Maritime Museum Reopened for Public

Jakarta Provincial Government reopened Maritime Museum for public on Tuesday (1/23) after fire accident on last Tuesday (1/16).

But half of building is forbidden for visitor because it is still on police investigation.
Jakarta Deputy Governor for Tourism and Culture, Agus Suradika said, actually government wanted to open it last week. But it needs to pass several procedures to open it for public.
Maritime Museum Closed Temporarily"Governor instructed us to check it totally before reopen it," he conveyed.
He mentioned, Maritime Museum fire incident is a valuable experience for his side to make sure similar incident will not be happened again. Especially buildings with high historical value.
Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud) Head, Tinia Budiarti added, half of Maritime Museum is opened after Fire Handling and Rescue Dept. declared it is safe.
"We are still want to give service to visitors, especially students though only several rooms are safe to be opened for public," she mentioned.
Fire burned down third of Building A and half of Building C. Border line is installed to prevent visitor entering burned area.
"Not only restore it as before, but this is also lesson for archaeologist architect. There is education inside restoration process," she expressed.
